Access to technology at the San Benito County Free Library has increased with the donation of eight iPad 2s.

The San Benito County Free Library will now be open for part of the day on Fridays – a departure from those days being closed since October 2012.
The library will continue to operate its current hours. It is open on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
On Friday, it will be open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
As the hours increase, the Library Action Committee made up of community volunteers and librarians will host a third community forum from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 25 at the library, 470 5th St., to discuss the community’s vision for the library system in San Benito County.
The previous forums, held in October and November, examined possible ways to address financial concerns related to the library, including expansion of the current facility, adding more computers and hiring additional staff. County leaders considered improving additional funding for the library after the library absorbed hundreds of thousands of dollars in budget cuts in recent years due to the downturn in the economy.
