Gavilan Rams

It was an all out slug fest between Gavilan and Chabot Tuesday.
Unfortunately for the Rams, they were out punched by the hosts and fell 17-11 at Chabot. The loss drops them to 16-9 overall, 9-6 in conference play.
Gavilan delivered the first blow, scoring four runs in the top of the first. Bryant Cid singled to score Tony Amaral to get the Rams on the board. Kevin Burley then sent one sailing over the fence for a three-run homer.
The Gladiators took the lead after putting up an eight-spot in the bottom of the third inning. With one run already across, Daniel Burschinger hit a two-RBI double to get his team within one at 4-3. A fielder’s choice tied the game and Jesse Lewis drove in three more with a homer for Chabot. An Ian Dawkins single scored Daniel Whitney as the hosts took an 8-4 lead.
The Gladiators scored another in the bottom of the fourth, but John Forestieri hit the third home of the game to push two across for the Rams, cutting the lead to 9-6.
Chabot scattered six runs over the next two innings before Gavilan was able to answer. Brennan Wilson came home on a fielder’s choice in the top of the seventh for a run, but Chabot got two more in the bottom of the inning to take a 16-7 lead.
Wilson doubled in the top of the eighth to score Rex Lagman and Edgar Arriola and Chabot scored its final run in the bottom half of the inning.
The Rams pushed two more across in the top of the ninth when Burley doubled to score Forestieri and scored on the next play.
Burley led the team with four RBIs off three hits—including a homer—and two runs scored. Forestieri had three RBIs for Gavilan, a home run and scored two runs.
Nate Bonsell was handed the loss. He allowed nine runs on eight hits, including a home run. He also walked two and struck out three through three and a third innings.
Gavilan will host Skyline at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.

SFCC scattered five runs over the next two innings to cap off their scoring for the day. Gavilan mustered up two more runs in the bottom of the fourth, but it was too little, too late.
