A a variety of drawings, paintings, photography and sculptures created by students at Gilroy and Christopher high schools will be showcased Thursday at the Gavilan College Library Gallery.

Christine Canepa, Gavilan College art instructor, will host a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday to celebrate the high school art exhibit that opened March 11 and runs through April 10.

GHS art teacher Annie Tobin said the exhibit features the work of beginning, advanced and advanced placement classes at both schools.

“What is particularly unique about this exhibition is that it is a collaboration between our secondary schools and our community college,” Tobin wrote in an e-mail. “Both Gilroy and Christopher high schools produce extremely talented student-artists, and Gavilan College has given the community the opportunity to see that talent.”

Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays.

The Gavilan College Art Gallery is located in the library building on the Gavilan College main campus at 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd. in Gilroy. Details: e-mail [email protected].
