George Frederick Morris, Jr. passed away at Hazel Hawkins
Memorial Hospital on Nov. 19 at the age of 83 years.
George Frederick Morris, Jr. passed away at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital on Nov. 19 at the age of 83 years.

Mr. Morris was a native of Darby, Pa. and a resident of San Jose for 38 years. He lived in Hollister for the last three years. He was the owner of Morris Steel, a structural steel fabrication company in San Jose for the last 41 years. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Marines. George and his spouse Ruth N. Morris celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary last April 24.

“He was truly a devoted family man” said his wife Ruth. “His family was his primary interest, he cherished the time he spent with his children and his grandchildren.”

He was an avid reader, especially about subjects featured by the National Geographic Society. He enjoyed time spent in his garden as well as traveling into other states to hunt deer, antelope and elk.

Besides his wife Ruth, George is survived by his daughters, Ruthann Bradfield and husband Robert of San Ramon, and Carolyn Morris of Berkeley; his son George F. Morris III and wife Michele of San Juan Bautista; and grandchildren Robert Scott Bradfield, Kristen C. Bradfield, and Lauren N. Morris.

At Mr. Morris’ request arrangements have been made for private cremation and inurnment through Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home and Crematory 870 San Benito St., Hollister. Memorials may be directed to the donors favorite charity.
