On January 31st, 2015, we lost a father, a husband and a best friend. George passed away peacefully, due to kidney failure, at the age of 78, in Capitola.
George was born in San Jose, CA and raised in Madrone/Morgan Hill, CA, where his parents grew prunes and had vineyards.
He attended St. Mary’s School in Gilroy, Bellarmine and Salinas High School, where he graduated. While attending Hartnell College in Salinas, he also took care of the family ranch after his father became ill.
He continued farming fresh market produce and later went to work for Del Monte foods in the field department and then worked at the cannery in San Jose for 35 years.
George loved racing. In his earlier years he raced Go Karts, collected street rods and attended many NASCAR events. He was an avid fisherman, so you could always find George out on his boat “Captain Bubba”, off the shores of Santa Cruz or at Lake Almanor. He was very generous when it came to sharing his catch of the day.
He also enjoyed playing softball and golfing at Seascape. He loved spending time with his family and his friends in Palm Desert. George was a member of Seascape Golf Course, Italian Catholic Federation, Gilroy Elks Lodge and Lake Almanor Fishing Assoc.
George leaves behind, his wife, Anita of 56 years, daughters; Liz (Rich) Robinson and Jennifer (Alan) Freese and son, Darrell Sciutto; grandchildren; Dustin and Nicholas Robinson, Amanda Morrell, Shelby and Jack Freese. He is also survived by his goddaughter, Melissa Beardsley.
George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Josephine Sciutto and numerous aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank the staff at Kindred Health Care and Care from the heart.
