George Rogers Faxon May 7, 1941 - December 22, 2013

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 27th at 3 P.M. at Lima Family Erickson Memorial Chapel, 710 Willow Street, San Jose. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to San Jose State University Athletic Department/The Spartan Foundation.
George, the gentle giant/safety inspector of Chandler Court, left the ‘neighborhood’ on December 22, 2013. A devoted employee of Beech Nut for 26 years, then the California Strawberry Commission, a loving husband, a dedicated father and ever present grandfather-George lead a full life. And every weekend he could be found in his recliner watching his local teams, and any other game on TV! His love of watching sports was a natural progression from his athletic youth. He passed on his love of ‘the game’ to his children. Watching his grandchildren at their volleyball, water-polo, tennis and basketball games was another thrill!
When he did leave the recliner in his retired years, George and Phyllis enjoyed driving around California and this great country, going to movies, and spending time with their children.
Though a man of few words, George’s compassion for others was never doubted. The outpouring of love and support his family has felt this past week confirms his presence will be missed, but the memory of his kindness will remain.
George is survived by the only love of his life and wife of 51 years, Phyllis; the ‘strawberries’ of his eye: Michelle (Paul) and Cynthia; his five talented and gorgeous grandchildren: Davis, Maggie, Lauren, Garrett and Jillian; his sisters Jean and Joanne; a loving, caring extended family, and the Chandler community of 50 years.
