Hollister resident Gil Baladad died suddenly Thursday, Oct. 30 at Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital. He was 76.
He was born in the Philippine Islands and came to San Benito County in 1982.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and St. Benedict’s, and Fil Visayan Lodge.
He loved being with his family and his grandchildren. He enjoyed football, baseball and gardening, especially raising his own vegetables. He also enjoyed fishing at the San Luis Dam and surf fishing at Santa Cruz.
He was a maintenance man for Sysco Company in Union City.
He is survived by his wife Julita Baladad of Hollister; daughters Nelia (Rudy) Sabado of Hollister, Gloria (Jimmy) Viloan. Thelma (Danny) Solivio, Lisa (Raymond) Corpuz, and Ginalyn Baladad of the Philippine Islands; sons Victor Baladad, Eduardo (Aimee) Baladad, Jose (Corazon) Baladad, Richard (Agnes) Baladad, and Edgar Baladad; and 18 grandchildren. He is also survived by three brothers, one sister and many nieces and nephews living in the Philippines.
Visitation was held at Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home on Sunday, Nov. 2, followed by recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Sunday.
Shipment of his body to the Philippine Islands will take place Wednesday, Nov. 6. A visitation and a Mass of Christian burial will be held in his hometown of La Union, Philippine Islands.
