A Gilroy woman was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence after an accident in San Jose that killed her husband and daughter, the California Highway Patrol said.
The woman, reportedly 51-year-old Stacy Lonnberg, was driving north on Highway 85 near Winchester Boulevard around 3:45 p.m. when her 2002 Toyota Tacoma pickup sideswiped a Chevrolet Silverado before she overcorrected and rolled the Tacoma, according to the CHP.
The left rear passenger – reportedly the driver’s daughter, 26-year-old Fremont resident Tiffiny Gillette –Â was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene, the CHP said.
The driver’s husband, reportedly 67-year-old Fredric Lonnberg, also died from injuries sustained in the crash after being extracted and transported to Valley Medical Center, the CHP said.
No one in the Silverado was injured, according to the CHP.
