Hollister can you spare a lane?
Hollister can you spare a lane?
Recent rumors have the Hollister Bowling Center closing if the current manager can’t get funding to buy the bowl. I have been a resident bowler for almost nine years on Thursday nights. If the lanes are allowed to close, it would end another chapter in the history of Hollister by letting another fun and nice place to go for all ages disappear.
I think that we should all speak up to the current ownership and let them know that we want the alley to stay open. Give the current manager time to gather the necessary funding to purchase the property and the business. Only after a reasonable amount of time, agreed by both parties, and stop the unnecessary pressure tactics that are constantly going on, if agreement cannot be reached then let current ownership find another buyer.
I have personally worked as a consultant at the bowl last year from April to August and the current ownership put a lot of money into improving the business. I was proud to be part of the team that got the sports bar off the ground. We had nothing but positive support from ownership and management, but with the owners living out of state and the county, it was sometimes hard to get things done. Nevertheless, it became a fun place to bring the kids, have parties and have adult fun at night. It was now a friendlier, safer environment for all. Because of past mismanagement, the bowl has suffered but has now rebounded with the help of the current manager Don Rovella. Deposits are being made correctly, bills are getting paid and the business is increasing. Oh yes, the business is turning a profit. With the infusion of new blood such as new ownership, passionate employees and the right management team, this will become one of Hollister’s most profitable, friendly and exciting business’s in the county. In closing, I ask that Don Rovella get a fair and pressureless attempt to purchase this business and Hollister will be forever thankful!
