Although Santa Catalina’s Annie Bowlsby earned medalist honors with a 3-over 39 on Monday, the San Benito girls golf team earned the match win with a 233-245 victory in league play at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club.

It was the lowest score this season for the Balers.

“I’m happy with that,” said San Benito head coach Chris Branon, who, in seven years coaching the Balers, has never defeated Santa Catalina.

The season-low score came on San Benito’s home course. The two teams played on the “Original 9,” which is hole No. 1 and 11-18 of the Gabilan Course.

Nevertheless, five of the six Balers who competed carded scores in the 40s.

Morgan DiDomenico recorded the lowest score for San Benito — a 44. Branon said the sophomore golfer carded an eight on a par-4, yet still managed to record the best score for the Balers on Monday.

Jordan Davies followed with a 45 and LaShea Dailey carded a 47, while Emiley Palmquist shot a 48 for the Balers and Lexi Branon rounded out the team with a 49.

Nicole Rianda, meanwhile, carded a 51 for San Benito.

San Benito’s scheduled match against Salinas on Wednesday was postponed to a later date. The team’s next match is slated for next Tuesday when it will host Christopher High at the Ridgemark Golf and Country Club.

Match time is 3:30 p.m.
