Gordon W. Tibbs, Sr., entered into rest at his Hollister home. He was born in Los Angeles and lived in Hollister for over 50 years moving here from Tracy. He and his wife, Maxine, were married in 1952 in San Luis Obispo. He received his bachelors and masters degrees from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and taught at San Benito High School for over 20 years in the Ag Department. He retired in 1975. He served his country honorably in the US Navy and was a member of California Ag Teachers Association and was state president and a member of their hall of fame. He was also a member of the California Retired Teachers Association. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home and did woodcarving. He also attended Calvary Baptist Church and Grace Bible Church in Hollister.
He is survived by his wife, Maxine Tibbs of Hollister, his children and their spouses, Gordon W. Tibbs, Jr. (Debra) of Gilroy, Teri Kirch of Redding, Larry Tibbs of Scottsdale, AZ and Chris Perreira (Gary) of Hollister, his grandchildren, Cody and Chad Kirch and Ashley and Crystal Perreira, his brother and sister, Burt Tibbs (Mary Lou) of Laguna Woods, CA and Eunice Williams of Kingsburg, his sister in law, Mildred Abel of Bakersfield and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by 4 siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Dec. 3, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Interment and military rites will be on Monday at 1:00 P.M. at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella.
Donations are preferred to Grace Bible Church Missions or Grace Bible Church Building Fund c/o the funeral home.
