Long-time Hollister resident Gustavo “Nani” Cruz died Monday, March 17, 2003 at Hazel Hawkins Northside Convalescent Hospital. He was 64.

Mr. Cruz was born in Los Angeles and came to Hollister with his family 60 years ago. He was involved with Hope Rehabilitation Services, where he spent a great deal of time for 30 years.

He is survived by his brothers, Armando Cruz, Joe Cruz and his wife, Jane, Bob Cruz and his wife, Marian, and Ruben Cruz and his wife, Terry, all of Hollister; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Marquez, and his parents, Valeriano and Dolores Cruz.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 22 at 11 a.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. The Rev. Bob Hammond of St. Augustine’s Traditional Episcopal Church will officiate. Friends are invited.

A reception will follow at the Bertha Briggs Memorial Building, 1221 Memorial Drive in Hollister.

Private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

Memorials are preferred to Hope Rehabilitation Services, in care of Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home, 363 Seventh St., Hollister, CA 95023.
