The San Benito High School Drama Department production of “Guys and Dolls” opens tonight at 7.30 p.m. at the San Benito High School Auditorium, 1220 Monterey St.

The musical romantic comedy set on New York City’s Broadway of the 1940s promises great music, dancing and laughter.

Austin “Jesse” Elking as smooth-talking gambler Sky Masterson takes an unlikely bet from Jerrod Porteur as Nathan Detroit, overseer of the oldest established permanent floating crap game in New York. The bet is that Masterson must make the next girl he sees fall in love with him.

The next girl just happens to be Jessica Fox, in the role of Miss Sarah Browne, a pure-at-heart religious reformer with the Salvation Army.

Nathan’s own 14-year engagement to Kat Shattuck, in the role of nightclub singer Miss Adelaide, is on the rocks as Miss Adelaide gets firm about tying the knot.

Tickets are $8 General Admission, $7 SBHS student/$5 with ASB sticker, and are on sale at Dorothy McNett’s Place, the SBHS Payment Center and at the door.

The show runs nightly through April 5. For more information, call 637-9691.
