Northern California with top performances at the recent 2010 Go
Green Compulsory Invitational in Dublin.
USA Sports, with a team comprised of gymnasts from Hollister and Gilroy, is proving to be a powerhouse in
Northern California with top performances at the recent 2010 Go Green Compulsory Invitational in Dublin.
“While this is the third meet in the season, it’s still early,” USA Sports Coach Melinda Lawrence said in a statement. “Our athletes are really showing that their hard work all summer is now paying off. They’re competing with some of the best teams and best gymnasts and finishing in the top three. They are truly exceeding our expectations.”
Among some very tough competition, USA Sports’ Level 4 team finished third (108.425) at the invitational. In the individual all-around competition, Sloane Pace and Louisa Mantilla, both from Gilroy and competing in the Level 4 Senior division, finished first (36.325) and third (35.20), respectively. Simone Yamaoka, of Hollister, was second (35.80) in the Level 4 Junior division.
On the individual events, Pace won balance beam (9.30), placed second on floor exercise (8.95) and third on vault (9.325). Mantilla won uneven bars (9.00) and placed third on floor (8.875). Yamaoka won balance beam with a 9.10 and was second on bars (9.20). Gilroy’s Sonte Stewart placed third on bars (9.150).
