Noche de Musica Fundraiser
The Hollister Dual Language Academy Parents Club invites the public to their annual fundraiser event, HDLA Presents…Una Noche de Musica, an evening of dancing. Support a great cause and enjoy a delicious dinner with local wine and beer, then dance all night long to the music of the legendary Chicano All Stars band. Dust off those dancing shoes and come out on Saturday, Aug. 27 from 5 to 10 p.m. on the patio at Bolado Park, 9000 Airline Hwy, Tres Pinos. Tickets are $40, must be 21 and older. Vaquero Heritage
The Vaquero Heritage Days include a show and sale where artisans share their skills in the vaquero techniques of rawhide braiding, silversmithing and more. Catch the equestrian presentations and take in the historic grounds where early vaqueros gathered herds of livestock in the mid 1800s. On Saturday, complete the evening with a dinner and concert at 6 p.m. On Sunday begin the day with a special “Rancho Inspiration Service” at 9 a.m. No dogs allowed. Come celebrate Friday, Aug. 19 from 4 to 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Aug, 21 from 9 a.m to 3:30 p.m. at the St. Francis Retreat, Historic Rancho San Justo, 549 Mission Vineyard Rd., San Juan Bautista. Damn Yankees Auditions
Auditions for San Benito Stage Company’s next musical, Damn Yankees, are set to take place on Friday, Aug. 19 at 6:30pm and Saturday, Aug. 20 at 10:00am. Please come with a song prepared and in comfortable clothes and shoes to dance. Teenagers from 13-19 are invited to audition for this show. Car Show
Expect great things this year from the Garlic City Car Show, hosted by the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce. Hang out in historic downtown reminiscing about the good old days or just come to appreciate great classic cars. Live music is back with the Shane Dwight Band, Jeff and Juli Strametz, The Blue Sky Band with Kaye Bohler and more local favorites. As you stroll the downtown, grab lunch at a local restaurant or grab a bite from a visiting vendor. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Check out the swap meet and let the little ones hang out at the new kids zone. It happens Saturday, Aug. 20 from 10 a.m. from 5 p.m. in downtown Gilroy from Fourth to Sixth Street. Visit gilroy.org.
