Harry Wesley Ramsay, after a brief illness, went to rest on December 30th, 2008. Born October 11, 1930 in Boston, MA to Harold Wesley Ramsay and Margaret Catherine Shedden. Harry started working while still in High School. He traveled, working his way through early adulthood, enjoying the beautiful sites the country offered. Work brought him to California where he met his first wife (Marjorie Ann Russel), children – Karen O’Brien, David Ramsay. They opened “Harry’s” restaurant and bar in Northbeach, San Francisco in the 1950’s. After many years of diligent, resourceful, attempts, the two parted and the business closed later. In the 1960’s, Harry met Sally (Burrows). They owned and operated a catering business amongst other endeavors. Children – William Ross Ramsay, Harry Wesley Ramsay Junior, step-children – Leslie Justice, David Justice, Dinah (Nova) Fuentes.

Despite the reward & success Harry enjoyed in food services, he ultimately discovered what would be his career in buying and selling restaurant and market fixtures. Harry and Sally parted in 1970. After a time he met and married Eunice (Sam) Ramsay. They enjoyed 30 years together until she passed in 2001. During those years he lost loved ones, but gained many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Harry’s immediate family includes brother’s (William “Bill” Ross Ramsay, Robert Alexander Ramsay) and sister’s (Harriet Rose Sevigne, Helen Fonteneau).

In April 2005, Harry met Stella Cullumber. He called her “the love of his life”. The two have been inseparable, soul mates since. They enjoyed dancing, singing karaoke, and being around friends and Stella’s family. Harry had many things in his life, good and bad, but his outlook of remaining positive and cool in many hard times served him well. When he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, Harry’s philosophy was no less optimistic. Although he knew his time was going to be less than he hoped, he was grateful for the experiences of his life. In that time, his mettle was tested. During his life he was a salesman, waiter, cook, caterer, restaurant and bar owner, and taught at Arthur Murray Dance Studio. He enjoyed gardening, meeting people, dancing, eating and drinking coffee.

On December 30th, 2008, he passed away with Stella loyally and lovingly by his side.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 10th at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home, 870 San Benito St., Hollister.
