The Hollister Hawks 14U baseball team placed second in its first
tournament of the new travel season last weekend at the Twin Creeks
Sports Complex. The Hawks also qualified for a National Qualifier
tournament as well.
Sunnyvale – The Hollister Hawks 14U baseball team placed second in its first tournament of the new travel season last weekend at the Twin Creeks Sports Complex. The Hawks also qualified for a National Qualifier tournament as well.

Nine of the 12 players pitched for the Hawks during the tournament. The team is made up primarily of boys from the local Babe Ruth 13-year-old All-Star team that made it to the State tournament.

The team is managed by Tim Furtado, and the coaches are Steve Ferranti, Rick Czernek, Carl Villasenor and John Whitehead. The Hawks will play next in Sacramento on Labor Day weekend.

Bret Furtado – 6-for-12, 5 RBI, 3 doubles

Justin Terrill – pitched 8 innings, 12 K’s, 0 earned runs

Anthony Alvarez – 6-for-12, 3 stolen bases

Stevie Cabral – threw a one-hitter for a victory

Al Reyes – 3-for-8, game winning RBI in semi-final game

Brandon Brautovich – 3-for-8, .500 on-base percentage

Chad Whitehead – played solid every game at shortstop

Matt Miguel – 2 hits and a big RBI

Lance Villasenor – 3 hits, 2 RBIs, 3 stolen bases

Miles Sanchez – pitched 5 strong innings, had 2 hits
