A private family graveside service was held last Saturday
morning at Calvary Cemetery for Hazel A. Fontes who died Friday.
Fr. Rudy Ruiz of Sacred Heart Catholic Church was the officiant.
Hazel succumbed to her longevity at the age of 87 at the Mabie
Skilled Nursing Facility in Hollister. Born in Hollister she had
lived here all of her life. Prior to her retirement she was a sales
clerk for 25 years with the J.C. Penny Department Store in
Hollister.

Her husband, George Edward Fontes, died in 1992. She is survived by her daughters, Toni Salyer and husband, Kenneth, of Watsonville, and Gemma Grossi and husband, David, of Lafayette; grandmother of Kimberly Roberts and husband, Damon, of Watsonville, Jayme Salyer of San Jose, Allison Pasto of Alameda, Nicholas Pasto of Lafayette and the late Jeremy Salyer; sister of Annabelle Santos of Gilroy, Bill Freitas and wife, Allene, of San Juan Bautista, and the late Rosalie Ferreira; sister-in-law of Willis and Lorraine Dooling of Hollister, Helen Frusetta of Arizona, and Gene and Joan Fontes of Nevada; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home in Hollister. Contributions are preferred to the Jeremy Salyer Scholarship Fund or the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in care of the funeral home.
