Hazel M. Stevenson died Sept. 13 at the age of 76. She was born
in Hollister and was a lifetime resident.

She and her husband, Richard “Steve” Stevenson were married at the Methodist Church in 1962 and he preceded her in death in 2000. She graduated from Stockton College and University of the Pacific in 1951. She was instrumental in starting The Methodist Preschool and was a founder of San Benito Christian School in 1978. She had a great love of young people and it was evident from her years as an educator and promoter of education.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Rhonda and Gary Shepherd of Hollister, David and Sheri Stevenson of Hollister and Edward and Karen Stevenson of Fremont; her sister, Josephine DeLuca of Murieta, Calif; and 10 grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, Sept. 24 at 3pm at the IOOF Cemetery.

Arrangements and cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory.

Donations are preferred to Hospice of the Central Coast c/o the funeral home.
