The Hollister Heat 12-and under B team got off to a great start at the ASA ‘B’ Wester National’s in Roseville Tuesday. The Heat 12’s handled the Central Grizzlies of Fresno 8-2 at Maidu Field in the first pool play game for both teams.

The Heat 12-and under played The Jinx of Oakland this morning at 9 a.m. at Maidu Field.

Rachel Maheu went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, while Elena Fata had three hits and an RBI to lead the Heat.

“We had great hitting up-and-down the lineup,” said Heat manager Todd Freitas.

Lizzy Gatto knocked in a run in the first inning with a single and had two RBI’s for the game. Chelsea Freitas had an RBI and scored twice, while Katie O’brien had a two-run single and contributed two hits. Hailey Macfarlane singled, had a sac bunt and had an RBI. Brenna Carrillo-Zazueta signled and scored a run for the Heat.

Sarah Solis pitched the first six innings and didn’t walk anyone. Mary Hernandez mopped up in the seventh as the pair combined for a three-hitter.

Correction: There was an incorrect identification in a photo on B1 of Tuesday’s Free Lance. The correct first name should be “Rachel”, not “Jenny” Maheu.
