Helen Idah Moore was born in Biggs, CA on October 4, 1920. She passed away on March 28, 2009 in Tacoma, WA. Helen graduated from Napa High School at the age of 16. She was accepted to the University of California in Berkeley but her dad felt she was too young to attend, so she went to Business College in Napa, CA and became a legal secretary at the age of 17. Helen married Sam Moore on October 13th, 1939 in Napa, CA and in the summer of 1947, they moved their young family to Morgan Hill. Helen worked as a bookkeeper for Roberts Department Store, Edes Hardware, Squeri Brothers Hardware, and local dentist, Dr. Day. An amazing cook, she worked at the Palm Grill, the Jolly Inn, and Shipley’s Restaurant. The Moores and good friend, Alma Schultz, owned the Cozy Cafe; a truck stop about four miles north of town, where Helen made her famous homemade pies. Sam and Helen were members of Morgan Hill First Assembly of God Church for many years before moving to Washington. Helen is survived by her husband of 69 years, Sam Moore of Tacoma, WA, son Rod Moore of Federal Way, WA, daughter Sue Carlton of Tacoma, WA, son Ken Moore of Lebanon, OR, nine grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

A private gravesite service was held on Tuesday, March 31st, at Mt. View Cemetery in Auburn, WA. On Tuesday, April 7th, family and friends will gather for a memorial service to be held at the Life Manor in Tacoma, WA.
