Hildegard Shutler, age 95, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie, Wisconsin.

Hildegard was born on March 27, 1913, and grew up in G_pingen, Germany. She married Gottfried Nagel in 1939, and they had two children, Ingrid and Gunther. Her husband died in 1962, and she continued to live in Germany until 1967, at which time she moved to the United States. She married her second husband, Richard Shutler, and lived in Gilroy, CA, until 2004. During the time she lived in California, she traveled widely in the United States and the rest of the world. She loved music, reading, gardening, and had many dear friends. At the age of 91, when she could no longer live alone, she moved to Menomonie to be near her daughter and family.

Hildegard is survived by her daughter, Ingrid (Norm) Rockwell of Menomonie; her son, Dr. Gunther (Bärbel) Nagel, of Gingen, Germany; grandchildren Adam (Karen) Rockwell, of Menomonie; Alex (Jill) Rockwell, of Oakdale, MN; Andreas Nagel and Birgit Nagel, both of Germany; and great-grandson Fineas Rockwell of Menomonie.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, January 2, 2009 at Autumn Village, 915 E. Elm Ave., Menomonie. Pastor Paul Pillman will be officiating. Private interment will be in Germany at a later date
