PRUNEDALE

Authorities identified a Hollister man who died after a suspected drunk driver crashed into the truck he was driving Saturday on Highway 101 near Prunedale.

Adam L. Haney, 26, died at Natividad Medical Center in Salinas from injuries he suffered in the crash Saturday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The CHP did not name a 25-year-old Hollister man, a passenger in the Toyota pickup truck Haney was driving, who suffered injuries described as moderate.

The CHP arrested Rosario Arreola Lopez, a 22-year-old Salinas woman, on suspicion of felony driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter, said Jim Covello, a public affairs officer for the Monterey area office of the highway patrol.

Covello said officers suspect Lopez, driving a 2006 Toyota Tundra at a high speed northbound on Highway 101, struck the pickup truck Haney was driving from behind, causing it to rollover.

Haney, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the truck and suffered major injuries, the CHP reported.
