The Hollister National “B” team never could get anything going in the District 9 All-Star game in Hollister on Thursday against King City “A”.

But even though Hollister was blanked on the scoreboard, King City had to scramble to get all the batters into the game. The three subs all batted in the final inning.

The 11-0 loss eliminates Hollister from the tournament, while King City has one loss.

Hollister, who finishes with a 2-2 record, had just one batter on base in the game. That was David Achen, who reached on an error.

Hollister drove the ball well a couple times but couldn’t get anything to fall.

The Nationals used three pitchers in the game – Jacob Estrada, Achen and Danny Buzzetta.

In the third inning with the bases loaded, Achen came to cover home plate on a passed ball. Catcher Ryan Dikes recovered and tossed to Achen. But Achen’s tag was just late.

Achen came up clutching his knee and looked pleadingly at the umpire to see what the call was. The runner was safe. Achen was able to remain in the game and moved to the outfield when Buzzetta came in to pitch.
