Receiving points from just four different players, the Anzar boys basketball team could not keep pace with St. Francis Central Coast Catholic on Thursday night and fell by a 55-40 margin in San Juan Bautista.

The Hawks got 16 points from Andres Gomez and 10 points apiece from Alex Valles and Nick Salgado.

Anzar is now 0-2 on the season.

“I thought our energy level was pretty good on defense. We played harder and made less errors,” Anzar head coach Ed Cecena said. “I thought we played fairly well for the roster that he had.

“It’s something to build on.”

Robbie Gibbs of St. Francis (4-1) dropped 16 points for the Sharks, while teammate Dylan Kinion added 10 points.
