Inez E. Ghezzi died Sunday, Jan. 11 at Avalon Care Center in Monterey. She was 84.

She was born in King City, Calif. and came to San Benito County 48 years ago. She attended King City High School and Gavilan Jr. College.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Italian Catholic Federation and Monterey County Swiss American Club. She was a former member of Y.L.I. of San Benito County and a 4-H leader in Soledad, where she taught girls to sew.

She was an excellent seamstress, and she made beautiful lined coats and dresses for her family. She enjoyed knitting and canning and baking items; she won many blue ribbons at the San Benito County Fair.

Mrs. Ghezzi was an avid gardener, roses being her pride and joy, and she had at least 50 plants in her yard. She was an outdoors person who loved to travel in her motor home with her late husband. She enjoyed fishing and hiking and trout fishing.

She is preceded in death by her husband Severino U. Ghezzi, who died in 1997, along with her late brothers and sisters Felice Francioli, Betty Hagemann and Mary Furrer.

She is survived by her daughter Annette Ghezzi and husband Bill Gingras, son Stan Ghezzi and wife Shirley, and grandchildren Mark Ghezzi of Seattle and Marlo Ghezzi of Folsom, Calif.

She is also survived by her brother Alfonso Francioli and wife Shirley of King City, and sisters Dora Luchessa and husband James of Soledad, Louisa Savage of Salinas and Jenny Ealoli of Los Angeles. She is survived by nieces Joyce Camany of Royal Oaks, Emily Boomer of Germany, Carolyn Martin of Salinas, Nancy Francioli of Salinas and nephews Steve Luchessa of Soledad, Cliff and Jeff Savage of Salinas and Jerry Ghezzi of Los Angeles, along with many other relatives.

Family and friends are invited to a time of celebrating Inez’s life and sharing memories from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel of Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home.

Family and friends will gather Thursday at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Hollister for a memorial mass.

Private inurnment will be held at Soledad Cemetery on Friday. Donations are preferred to the Cancer Society or Cerebral Palsy Association, c/o the mortuary chapel.
