A 34-year-old Cupertino woman driving lost on Highway 25 on Tuesday morning inadvertently reversed down a 20-foot embankment, causing her car to roll into a creek bed, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The woman was attempting to make a U-turn near Bloomfield Avenue when she reportedly accelerated while the car was in reverse, causing her and her silver Honda Civic to tumble backward into the dry ditch. She suffered only minor injuries – abrasions to her arms and complaints of pain in her back – and was not hospitalized, the CHP said.

As of noon, tow truck crews were attempting to pull the car out of the creek bed.
