Hollister resident Iris Douglass died Sunday, May 11, 2003 as the result of an automobile accident near Santa Maria. She was 86.
Mrs. Douglass was born in Salt Lake City and moved with her family to Oakland when she was 10. She graduated from Castlemont High School in Oakland and the LeBow School of Design in San Francisco.
In 1934 she met Alan Douglas. The couple were married a year later. She designed her own clothes and her daughter’s and was also a painter and a gourmet cook, her husband said.
She is survived by her husband, and her daughter and son-in-law, Gaye and Sam White of Castroville.
In keeping with Mrs. Douglass’ wishes, no services will be held. Cremation has been held. Disposition of cremains will be private.
