JACK PATE, 77, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Santa Teresa Hospital, San Jose of cardiac failure following an illness.

He was the father of Kelly Bryan of Lake Oswego, and Jennifer Howell of Alameda, CA. His brother was Jerry Pate (Joy) of Daly City, CA. He was also the son of the late Carl & Esther Pate. He was grandfather to Caleb, Taylor & Elizabeth Bryan & Carl & Claire Howell. He was the uncle of Kimberly Pate of Burlingame, CA.

Jack moved to Gilroy in 1947 from Stockton and graduated from Gilroy High School in 1949. He received his bachelor degree from San Jose State University in 1953. He was a Navy Lieutenant from 1953 1956. He returned to Gilroy to own and operate Gilroy Stationers and then took over the family business of Montgomery Auto Parts. Jack was proud to serve as a Gilroy City Council member for 14 years. He was a member of the Gilroy Masonic Keith Lodge #187; and Gilroy Presbyterian Church. Jack enjoyed being a long-time member and secretary of the Gilroy Rotary Club. Jack served the Gilroy Community in numerous capacities.

Jack loved traveling, genealogy, computers, photography and Dixieland Jazz.

He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. There will a viewing at Habing Family Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 from 6:00-8:00 P.M.

Services will be held at the Gilroy Presbyterian Church, Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. with burial to follow at Gavilan Hills Memorial Park. A celebration of his life will continue at the Gilroy Elks Lodge. Donations to the Gilroy Rotary Foundation or Gilroy Presbyterian Church would be appreciated.
