Mathew Jacobs was sentenced to prison Thursday morning.

A Hollister man was sentenced to 11 years in prison on charges related to accusations he raped two local women in July 2011 after he had used social networking websites to arrange visits with the victims.

Judge Steven Sanders on Thursday sentenced Mathew Jacobs, 22, to 11 years in prison for one of the cases and another two years for the other, but he will serve the terms concurrently, according to court records.

Jacobs in January accepted a plea deal and pleaded no contest to related sexual assault charges in the cases stemming from the rape arrests.

Jacobs appeared for the sentence hearing, and one of the victims spoke during the proceeding.

Jacobs was arrested by Hollister police in July and then again in September for the separate, suspected allegations.

The victim in the September arrest reported she was assaulted at a Hollister residence July 8. Police previously arrested Jacobs on July 22 in Hollister for a suspected rape the prior day. Investigators believe Jacobs had used social media to get in contact with his victim in both reported incidents.
