Jan was born in San Jose, CA on December 6, 1935. She graduated from Lincoln High School in San Jose, CA in 1953. She graduated from Bakersfield Jr. College School of Nursing in 1966. She earned her Bachelors and Masters Degrees while working at Kaiser Hospital, Santa Teresa. She was a Registered Nurse for 40 years.
Jan was active in the Gabilan Chapter of Kinship Center and The Garden Club of South County. She was supportive of many charities. Her passion was her family and friends and she loved to cook, travel, and garden.
Jan is survived by her husband of 41 years, Thomas R. Slatten; and her sons Bill (Carol) Muxlow of Bakersfield, and Mike Muxlow of Hollister; grandchildren Merrin (Omid) Yousofi of La Jolla, Sarah (Danny) Araujo of Bakersfield, Matt and Joe Muxlow of Bakersfield, and Toree Muxlow of Hollister; great-grandchildren Brody, Nick, and Colin Araujo of Bakersfield; sisters Barbara (Ken) Kayser of Hollister, Cathi (Tim) Shrimplin of Warsaw OH, and Colleen (Tom) Scott of Brentwood, CA
Jan passed away September 6th, 2009, after a courageous battle against cancer.
Friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Sept. 16, 2009, from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. at the Ridgemark Golf & Country Club Diablo Room, 3800 Airline Highway, Hollister.
