Ali’i Warrior of the South Bay set to fight in San Jose this
month; first ‘Fight Night’ bout since summer of 2005
Hollister – Kelsey Jeffries won’t have to wait long for the chance to avenge her January World Boxing Council (WBC) title fight loss to Jackie Nava. She’s scheduled to fight at the March 23 Fight Night at the Tank at the HP Pavilion in San Jose.
The “Ali’i Warrior of the South Bay” hasn’t nailed down an opponent yet for the event, but she will go six rounds in the third fight on the card.
Jeffries’ loss by unanimous decision to Mexico-native Nava in the WBC Female Super Bantamweight title match in Cancun on Jan. 28 was the Hollister-based fighter’s first loss in two and a half years. Jeffries holds a career record of 33-9 with two knockouts.
Jeffries last appeared at the Tank in July 2005. She easily beat Leona Brown by unanimous decision in front of an enthusiastic hometown crowd.
The headliner of the upcoming Fight Night is Hector Camacho Jr. (40-1-1, 23 KO’s), the son of three-time world champion Hector Camacho.
Fights start at 7:30pm. Tickets can be purchased at the HP Pavilion ticket office, by phone at (408) 998-TIXS or online at ticketmaster.com.
