“It’s a rare person who can take care of business while also taking care of hearts”

Jessi was born and raised in Gilroy, CA. Recently, she had made her home in San Jose with her children; Xenia Inez, 11 and Ian Jeoffrey, 7 in order to be closer to her parents. Sadly, Jessi passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, February 21, 2010. Jessi leaves behind her husband and close friend, Todd Leal, loving parents, Olivia Soza-Mendiola and Frank Mendiola, brothers Alex Mendiola and Franco Aguilar, along with her father, Gilbert Aguilar. Jessi was blessed and loved by the extensive Ezequiel and Carmen Soza family, Emilio and Esperanza Aguilar family, Jeoff and Mary Leal family all from Gilroy and the John and Ida Mendiola family from Ravenna, OH.

Jessi passed at the prime age of thirty. Jessi’s heart and soul was much wiser and of an older woman who lived life to the fullest. Known to many as Jessi and a “best friend”, she was blessed with an enormous loving, caring and free spirit; always quick with a big smile and open to helping a friend in need or an absolute stranger with the same degree of compassion. Jessi was a committed parent and an avid volunteer and supporter at her children’s schools, school functions and extracurricular activities.

Jessi had an infectious smile that would warm your heart, the energy of a Texas tornado and the culinary skills of a master chef. Jessi loved to learn to cook the traditional foods of her Grandmothers who she cherished and shared their favorite recipes with everyone. Our precious Jessi, we will miss “Taco Tuesday’s”, “BBQ Sundays at mom and dad’s”, Wednesday Leal Family Dinner, “Dinner’s for Six” for anyone who asked, but most of all we will miss Jessi’s cooking for others as her way of expressing her love and devotion to friends and family. Our sweet doll, we will miss you with all our hearts. May your next journey take you to a place where you can continue to share your blessed gifts of living life to the fullest, loving unconditionally, where you can feed and warm hearts and most of all be surrounded by a deep love, equal to the love you had here on earth. You have been freed to be an angel of the universe.

Services will be conducted at Habing Family Funeral Home located at 129 4th Street in Gilroy, on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 10:00 A.M.

Afterwards, a celebration of her life will take place immediately following the services at the Morgan Hill Community Center located at the corner of Dunne Ave. and Monterey Rd. in downtown Morgan Hill.

In lieu of flowers, and in remembrance of what Jessi held dear, a fund for her children has been established. Donations may be made to the “Leal Children’s Fund” c/o Pinnacle Bank, 18181 Butterfield Blvd. #135, Morgan Hill, CA 95037
