Jesus Gonzalez Vasquez, age 84, a resident of Merced, passed away Monday, September 25, 2006.

He was born October 2, 1921 in Jalisco, Mexico, to the late Juan and Antonia Vasquez. Jesus enjoyed farm working and spending hours in his yard growing his vegetables. His true love was his family and having family gatherings.

Jesus is survived by his beloved wife, Luisa Vasquez; six sons: Juan, Gabriel and Danny Vasquez of Merced; Joe Vasquez of Los Banos; Freddy and Carlos Vasquez of Hollister; four daughters: Maria Castaneda, Espie Chavez both of San Juan Bautista; Antonia Vasquez of Vacaville and Rosa Cecena of Los Banos; 32 Grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jose Lucio Vasquez, a daughter, Raquel Ventura, a grandson, Jesse Vasquez and an infant son and daughter.

A visitation will be held from 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM, with a recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 PM, Friday, September 29, 2006 at Ivers & Alcorn Funeral Home, located at, 901 W. Main Street in Merced. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 30, 2006 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, located on the corner of “M” Street and 13th Street in Merced.
