He was preceded in death by his wife Freda Fortino, son Robert Fortino, and brothers Sandy and Al Fortino.

He is survived y his children, daughter-in-law Margaret, son Jim and his wife Pat Fortino, son Joe and his wife Peggy Fortino; grandchildren, Gordon and Sandy, Tim and Andrea, Lieutenant John and Michelle, Mike and Keri, Amanda, Carolyn, Joe and Renee; great-grandchildren, Amy, Ashley, Johnny, Jacob, Jessica, Lukas, Niko, Jenna, Daniel, Anthony, and Dominic; brother to Frank and Ruby, Ron and Maxine, Louise Fortino; nephew to Louise Nacarrato and Juanita Gallo; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe enjoyed fishing, swimming, bowling, boxing and working with his hands.

In the 50’s, Joe owned Liberty Club, Club O.K. and Club 14-0, after which he went to work for Atlas Pools where he worked as a foreman until his retirement.

Memorial services will take place 6:30pm Thursday, Jan. 20 at Habing Family Funeral Home, Gilroy. Donations may be made in Joe’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.
