John D. Kinslow passed away on March 27 at the age of 61.
Mr. Kinslow was a native of Ness City, Kan. and has lived in Hollister for the last 39 years. John worked in construction and building highways for Granite Construction for many years. He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local No. 3 of Dublin. Mr. Kinslow was interested in the outdoors, taking rides in the country, and barbecuing, especially for his annual Harley Davidson Barbecue where hundreds of riders from all over the country would come to visit him and his wife Joanne at their Hollister home. As a youth, John received his education in Turlock and to this day was very proud that he still maintained close friendships with his old school buddies. They also came to Hollister often, as did Arlin Ness, to visit John at home and attend his barbecues.
His interests were driving his Harley Davidson Handicapped Pickup, assisting his friends in their construction projects, even if it came to building fences.
John is survived by his wife and good friend Joanne Kinslow of Hollister; sons Michael John Kinslow of San Jose; Robert Lee Kinslow and spouse Rose of Oakley; and his shared son Vince Sardam of Hollister; his granddaughters Chelbe, Cyndee and Cassidee Kinslow of Oakley. He is also survived by half-brothers Ralph Kinslow of Redding and Robert Freedman of New Mexico; half-sisters Twilla Sweet of Texas and Trieva Winans of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews; and his very special friends Greg Thul and Dick Renfrow of Hollister.
As per his request, arrangements have been made for cremation and private inurnment through Grunnagle Ament Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory 870 San Benito St., Hollister.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial celebration of John’s life on Saturday April 9 at 2pm in the Hollister Elks Lodge, 351 Astro Drive at the Hollister Airport.
In lieu of flowers, cards with donations are preferred to the family for the celebration of Johns life.
