John H. Winchel passed away Sunday afternoon in Hollister at the age of 72. He was born in Los Angeles, and has lived in San Benito County for the past 25 years. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. John was an avid aircraft enthusiast and was a crew chief for Hugh’s Vintage Aircraft at the local airport. John is survived by his wife, Yvonne Defalco Winchel of Tres Pinos and a son, Michael Winchel of Idaho.
A memorial service will be this Saturday, July 28, at 3 P.M. at the Hollister Airport, 90 Skyline Dr. in hanger #1. Arrangements have been made for cremation by Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Crematory with burial at sea.
