John S. Mosunic, age 72, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on February 1, 2008 in San Jose, CA.

John was born October 27, 1935 to Elizabeth and Bartul Mosunic in San Francisco, CA. He lived in Morgan Hill his entire life. John was a Live Oak High School graduate (1954), where he excelled in sports and was Student Body President. After high school, he enlisted in the Army and served for four years. John was married in May of 1970 to his wife Taffy.

John retired from the San Jose Police Department in 1992 after nearly 33 years of service. John’s most enjoyable hobbies included hunting and fishing with his sons and brother-in-law. He also enjoyed taking trips with his wife. John also cherished spending time with his fellow retired SJPD officers. John was a member of St. Catherine’s church for 71 years, and was an usher for over 20 years. He also was a member of Morgan Hill Ducks Unlimited.

John is survived by his loving wife, Taffy; son Michael (Sarah); son Eric SJPD #3956 (Sarah); grandchildren Dylan, Ian and Gabriella; siblings Kay Larkin of Washington, Anne Lua of Washington, and Frank Mosunic of Morgan Hill; mother-in-law Dorothea Bruun of San Jose; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his loyal yellow Labrador, Reba Honey. A memorial mass will take place on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 12 noon at St. Catherine Parish, 17400 Peak Avenue in Morgan Hill.
