John Salas Rojas died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13. He was 81.

He was born March 17, 1922 in Sinaloa, Mexico to Eleno Bueno Rojas and Florencia Salas. He first became a resident of San Benito County in 1943, residing in San Juan Bautista then later in Hollister.

John was a member of the Apostolic Assembly Center in Hollister. He loved roses, animals, fishing, watching his novelas, futbol soccer, baseball and playing Bingo with his friends at the Senior Center and Jovenes de Antano.

John is survived by his six children: Johnny Rojas, Raymond Rojas, Adela Rojas, Angelina Rojas, Lucy Rojas-Perez and Joe Rojas; 11 grandchildren: Corrina Rojas, Christina Rojas Lujan, Ivrie Perez De Alba, Ray Perez, Ray “Jito” Rojas, Joe Angel Rojas, Raylene Rojas, Sharleen Rojas, Joe Rojas Jr., Jovanna Rojas and Joshua Rojas. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his sister Nicolasa Rojas.

Friends are invited to visit at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home on Wednesday, Dec. 17 between the hours of noon and 9 p.m. Prayer services will be at 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Dec. 18 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Pastor Eliseo Castillo of Prince of Peace Church and John Benevides of The Apostolic Assembly Center will officiate.

Internment and graveside services will follow the funeral at the IOOF Cemetery.

Donations may be made to Hazel Hawkins Northside Convalescent Hospital.
