Jose Antonio Silva, of San Martin, passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and daughters, after a long battle with cancer.

He was born in Salao, Faial, Acores to Antonio Pinheiro DaSilva and Luisa Garcia.

He led a full life doing his favorite things. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, camping, and watching sports. He will be fondly remembered for his love of the outdoors, wine making, card playing, caring for his animals, and making jokes. He was hard working and enjoyed his job of 28 years as a garbage man.

He is survived by his wife Maria of 40 years and daughters Susie (Tony) Lombardi, Christina (Bobby) Rocchi, and Jennifer (Teddy) Hunsperger; six grandchildren, Alexandra, Emily, Garrett, Justin, Abigail, and Sierra; his two sisters Maria Anselma and Teresa of Faial; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many more family and friends.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, March 3, 2011, at 1:00 P.M. at St. Catherine’s Church, 17400 Peak Avenue in Morgan Hill.

In lieu of flowers, please donate in Jose’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
