Jose C. Pacheco died March 5 in Gilroy. He was 67.

He was born in Linares, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He married his wife Isabel in 1955 in Mexico and came to Hollister in 1961. He worked as a mechanic with Tri Valley Growers and owned and operated Pacheco Upholstery and Auto Repair. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church and Teamsters Union Local 890. He also enjoyed fishing with his family.

He is survived by his wife, his children and their spouses, Jose and Maria Pacheco of Hollister, Chris and Marivel Pacheco of Hollister and his son and his wife, Concepcion and Rumalda Herrera of Mexico.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Emma Alvarez, in 2003.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A vigil service was held Sunday, March 7, 2004 at 7 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. Epifania Galindo of Sacred Heart Church officiated.

Cremation follows the vigil services at Gavilan Hills Crematory.
