Jose Tavarez passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2004 shortly after being diagnosed with cancer. He was 39 years old.
Jose was born in El Paso, Texas, but was raised in Paicines where he attended Willow Grove School and later moved to Hollister where he graduated from San Benito High School. He eventually moved to Bend, Ore. to raise his children. He was a hard working man. He loved his rock-n-roll music and enjoyed playing softball with his team The Rowdy Goudys. He will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Joyce; two children, Candice,12, and Misty, 6,; brother and sisters, Norbert Tavarez, Sonia Cross, Delia Tavarez, and Aida Tavarez.
He was preceded in death by his mother Delia Tavarez in 1978.
Although Jose requested no funeral services, his friends and family will honor his memory with a benefit barbecue for his children. The barbecue will be held on Aug. 7, 2004 at noon at the Vet’s Park Section D. Donations can be made at the barbecue or at San Benito Bank to the Jose Tavarez Memorial Children’s fund #51057024.
