Hollister native Josephine Silva died Tuesday, April 8, 2003 in Merced. She was 84.

Mrs. Silva was a lifetime resident of Hollister until her recent failing health led to her moving to Merced. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church and did housekeeping during her working life.

She is survived by her children, Mary Donley of Fremont, Geraldine Rawhoof of Los Banos, Melvin Silva of San Jose, Robert Silva of Modesto and Ronald Silva of Cody, Wyo.; her brothers and sisters, Adrian Soto and Nevada Costa of Newark and Anna Marie Silvey of Montana; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan, in 1995.

Visitation will be Thursday, April 10 from noon until 9 p.m. at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home. The Rosary will be recited Thursday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral services will begin Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, proceeding to Sacred Heart Church for a Mass of Christian burial at 10 a.m. Interment and graveside services will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
