old.
Jovita S. Ramos died May 16 at Mabie Northside Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born in Guanajuato, Mexico and was 96 years old.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, worked for Tri Valley Growers cannery and was involved in the grandmother program with Head Start.

She is survived by her daughter, Beatrice Hurtado of Hollister and her son and his wife, Tony and Amelia Ramos of Hollister; her brother, Peter Salazar of Bakersfield; and her seven grandchildren, Julie Palafox, Alfonso Hurtado, Edward Hurtado, Cindy Hurtado Smith, Antonio Ramos Jr, Nellie Irisarry and Larry Ramos. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren

She is preceded in death by her husband, Francisco Ramos; her son, Francisco Ramos Jr; her daughter, Julia Ramos; and her grandson Francisco Ramos.

A vigil and Rosary service will be held at 7pm on Thursday, May 19 at Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home.

The Mass will be at 10am on Friday in Sacred Heart Church. Friends can gather at the funeral home at 9:30am for a procession to the church. Interment and graveside services will follow the Mass at Calvary Cemetery.

Friends can pay their respects on Thursday from noon until 9pm.
