Joyce passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011, in San Francisco after a short illness.

Daughter of Eleanor Frusetta of Gilroy. Devoted mother of Dawn Patereau-Martinez and her husband, John of Gilroy. Dear grandmother of Evan and Jackson Rodriguez and Aria Patereau Martinez all of Gilroy. Loving sister of Judy Podgorny and her husband, Victor of San Rafael, CA. Niece of Albert and Betty Gagliardi of Gilroy. Also survived by many cousins. A native of Gilroy.

Born and raised in Gilroy.

Attended Gilroy Schools and Gavilan Community College. Past president and charter founder of Gilroy Bonanza Days. Volunteer at Gilroy Garlic Festival for many years.

Joyce was a former title holder of Junior Queen of Gilroy and then competed at the Santa Clara County Fair and won the title of Santa Clara County Jr. Miss. Joyce, a former dance instructor, was active in the Miss California-Miss America program for over 30 years. Joyce was active in the travel business for 47 years and was owner of Gilroy Travel Service. She was on the originating committee of the 1960’s class reunion.

Memorial Services Saturday, April 2, 2011 – 3:00 P.M. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 651 Broadway, Gilroy.
