Joyce Hope Ash passed away on June 11, 2005 at Kaiser Santa
Teresa Hospital in San Jose after a 2 1/2 year battle with
pancreatic cancer. Joyce was born in Muskogee, OK on August 30,
1933.
Joyce Hope Ash passed away on June 11, 2005 at Kaiser Santa Teresa Hospital in San Jose after a 2 1/2 year battle with pancreatic cancer. Joyce was born in Muskogee, OK on August 30, 1933. She enjoyed telling friends she was a true “Okie from Muskogee.” Joyce had many talents and interests including sewing, playing bridge, and tap dancing. Singing was one of her greatest passions. She sang professionally and was very active in Houston area musical productions in the 1960s. She sang in the Shrine Circus at the Houston Coliseum and played leading roles in musicals such as 110 in the Shade, Fiorello!, Little Mary Sunshine and Pajama Game.

Joyce and her husband moved to Hollister in 1986 where they enjoyed playing golf. She served as captain of the Ridgemark Women’s Golf Club in 1995. Joyce was a member of Hazel Hawkins Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered her time working in the gift shop. She was an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and enjoyed serving on the vestry for a three-year term.

Joyce will be dearly remembered for her laughter, compassion and the love she had for family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Patrick Ash, her daughter Kathye Watterson, son Kurt Hannaford, step children, Patrick Jr., Robin Ash, Reed Ash and his wife Vicki, four grandchildren, Daniel and Paul Watterson and Danielle and Brittany ash, her son Kenneth Watterson preceded her in death.

Services will be held on Friday, June 17, 2005 at 10:30 AM at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 720 Monterey Street in Hollister.

Donations are preferred to St. Luke’s Church or the American Cancer Society c/o Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home, 363 7th St. Hollister, CA 95023.

A reception will follow the memorial services at the church hall. Arrangements and cremation are through Black Cooper Sander Funeral Home and Gavilan Hills Crematory.
