HOLLISTER

A 17-year-old suspect was arrested Tuesday and is suspected of multiple sexual assaults of a juvenile under age 14.

The Hollister Police Department reported that it responded to Hazel Hawkins Memorial Hospital on Saturday after receiving a report of a sexual assault victim being treated there.

“The juvenile victim reported she had attended a Halloween party the previous night where she was given an intoxicating substance,” read a press release from the department. “The victim reported a male at the party took her into a bedroom against her will, where she was sexually assaulted multiple times.”

After police took the report at the hospital, they accompanied the victim to another medical facility to document her injuries and “preserve forensic evidence,” the release states.

Over the following three days, detectives worked with the victim and her family and identified a suspect. According to the press release, Hollister police officers, the county probation department and detectives searched multiple Hollister locations for the suspect Nov. 4.

Police eventually located the suspect in a home on Gonzalez Drive and took him into custody without incident.
