Dog sworn in

The Hollister Police Department has a new member in their unit and he walks on four paws.
A dog named K-9 Officer Freeze was sworn in as the newest addition to the department at a small ceremony held June 2. He will begin patrolling the streets with his human handler later this week.
Retired City Clerk, Geri Johnson, delivered the oath of office which included the part, “I promise to serve and protect the residents of Hollister and protect my human Officer David Anderson,” according to a press release from the department.
After the oath of office, Freeze received his own police badge with a unique badge number, K9-1.
The dog and his handler, Anderson, have been in training for more than a month at the Evolution Dog Training Center. They completed their certification course June 2.
Freeze is a Belgian Malinois dog that was donated to the police department by the Hollister-based Wonder Woofs earlier this year. The department used grant funds to pay for his training and the K-9 equipment needed for the patrol car. Emergency Vehicle Specialist donated their labor to install the equipment in the car.
