Hollister resident Kenneth “Ken” Winter died March 23, 2004, at Kindred Hospital in San Leandro. He was 76 years old.

Ken was born July 13, 1927, in Minnesota. He moved to San Benito County from San Jose 15 years ago. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II.

He retired from IBM in San Jose after working for them for 32 years. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, in Tres Pinos, Ridgemark Golf and Country Club, of Hollister, Hollister Lodge 1436, and BPOE SIRS 167, of Hollister. His interests included family get-togethers, spending time with his grandchildren and traveling throughout the country with his wife. He also enjoyed golf, bridge, the San Jose Sharks and the outdoors.

He is survived by his wife Vivian M. Winter, of Hollister; daughter Brenda (Mike) Howard, of Simi Valley; son Jeff Winter, of Van Nuys; son Eric “E.J” (Dee) Winter, of San Jose; grandson Jay Howard, of Simi Valley; and granddaughter Madison Winter, of San Jose.

Arrangements for private cremation have been made through Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home and Crematory. Friends are invited to a celebration of Ken’s life on Saturday at the Immaculate Conception Church, 7290 Airline Highway, Tres Pinos, beginning at 11 a.m.

Memorials are preferred to the Ridgemark Golf Club Junior Golf Program in care of Grunnagle-Ament-Nelson Funeral Home, 870 San Benito St., Hollister, CA 95023.
