The future of the City of Hollister looks bleak.
The future of the City of Hollister looks bleak.

The city manager has given notice of resignation. The “Reduction in Force” (R.I.F.), which is supposed to take place in July, will eliminate the positions of fire chief, airport manager, finance director and over 30 others. That’s excluding those who have decided that the extra workload will be overwhelming and move on to another area.

Will Hollister be a sinking ship with no captain? Who will run our various departments? Who will do the work of the support staff? What’s going to happen when Hollister starts building again, (when the building moratorium is lifted), and our reduction in force, already overworked is asked to do the work of four instead of two?

Does our governor realize what Hollister and other California cities will be dealing with, in this very worrisome economy?

Who will answer our questions? Where are the answers?

Ruth Erickson,

Hollister
